Flavors & Orchid Trails
Your adventure begins with a visit to the local museum, where you'll explore the rich history of the region – from its mining heritage to exceptional archaeological discoveries. After the cultural part, you’ll dive into the fascinating story of winemaking and how it has shaped Zagorje’s tradition.
Next comes the treat for your taste buds – we’ll visit a traditional house where you'll get to taste štrukli or other local Zagorje delicacies, prepared in a traditional way.
To finish the day, we’ll explore the natural beauty of the area on a hiking-educational circular trail called "Along the Orchid Paths". This 13.7 km trail leads through the stunning landscape of Strahinjčica and the heart of Hrvatsko Zagorje. It includes more than 1,000 plant species, and Strahinjčica itself is home to 32 species of orchids. The area is part of the Natura 2000 ecological network, important for the conservation of endangered species.
The trail has three sections, and you can choose the one that best suits your preferences:
-
Hiking trail on Strahinjčica (8.4 km – approx. 2.5 hours)
-
Trail to Dedek and Babica (1.1 km – approx. 1 hour)
-
Orchid Trail Mala Gora – Plat – Poljane (4.2 km – approx. 1.5 hours)
This well-marked trail attracts visitors of all ages and interests, offering education, recreation, and a strong message about the importance of preserving nature.
